Frequently Asked Questions

  • 'How long should I have counselling or therapy for?'

This varies for each client, and is not always possible to predict. Some clients have short-term counselling for six to twelve sessions, some stay in therapy for years. If you have an idea of how many sessions you would like, we can discuss this when we meet.
  • 'Will you keep my information private and confidential?'

Yes, all client information is kept completely confidential. The only exception to this may be if I am aware that a child or vulnerable person is at risk. However, I would always aim to talk about the situation with a client first, before taking any action.
  • 'What happens at the initial session?'

This is our opportunity to see if I can offer you a service that you're comfortable with, to answer any questions you may have, and for you to see if we could work together. There is no obligation for us to book in further sessions.
  • 'I might give it a go. What do I do now?'

Using the links in the contact section, please send me an email.
It's useful to state a good time/day to contact you, and some ideas about when you'd like your initial session. I will email or call you within a few days, and we can make arrangements for our initial meeting.
  • 'Will I have to lie on the couch?'

No, - not unless you want to! TA psychotherapy is more of a conversation between the two of us, led by you and what you want to bring.
