About Me

I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist, with a BSc Honours degree in psychology and Advanced Diploma in counselling. I have used these skills in many different work settings, and in 2013 completed the Foundation in Psychotherapy (Transactional Analysis), to work at a deeper level and with a broader range of clients and needs. I continued on to the Masters Level 7 Advanced Diploma in Psychotherapy (Transactional Analysis) which I completed in June 2017.

I also studied a Diploma in Relational Mindfulness at Karuna institute in 2015, to expand my approaches for client work.

My experience includes over 20 years working in one-to-one support, including Domestic Abuse and homelessness.
I have also worked with looked-after children, Young Offenders, and in Family Support.

More recently I have worked as lead facilitator on Pattern Changing courses for women affected by abusive relationships at a local charity, and as counsellor with young people who have experienced sexual abuse.

Currently, alongside my small private practice, I work for the NHS Mental Health Services with young people and families, and also on the specialist Child Sexual Abuse Team.

I offer short and longer term work, on specific issues such as anxiety, trauma and identity issues, or more general feelings of discontent or curiosity.

I am committed to remaining aware of recent developments and research in mental health and wellbeing, as well as developing my own understanding and progression. I am currently undertaking further Masters studies in Psychotherapy, and exploring more deeply concepts including compassion focused therapy and trauma approaches.

I have a specialist interest in working with trauma, PTSD, and Borderline Personality Disorder. My career over the past twenty years has given me so much insight and skills into working with those who have experienced abuse and trauma, and I have also taken additional training in this area to ensure I can offer clients robust and and informed support.

I have also been in my own therapy for over five years, and experienced additional therapies including body focused therapy and CBT. I hope that this has enabled me to understand and work through my own issues, and of course given me that important insight into being in the other chair.

I endeavour to offer an open, honest and non judgemental approach with all of my clients, and welcome enquiries from all walks of life and orientations.
